CAR
While Leigh lies only 80km north of Auckland, the relaxed vibes and rolling coastlines make it feel much further away. You can escape to Leigh for a quieter stay and explore New Zealand's first marine reserve, Goat Island, or have a night out and get in a gig at the famous Leigh Sawmill Cafe.
BUS
For those wanting to avoid the drive and just sit back and enjoy the ride, you can get to Leigh from Auckland via bus and taxi. Catch an InterCity bus from Auckland to Warkworth to begin your journey. InterCity operates daily services with a range of cheap fares starting from $1 (+ booking fee).
It takes approximately 1h 15m to reach Warkworth from Auckland.
From Warkworth, you can then take a taxi right into Leigh, or hop on a bus to Matakana and take a taxi from there.
